HMS Eagle and HMS Albion by Ivan Berryman. HMS Eagle steams past the commando carrier HMS Albion during the withdrawal from Aden in November 1967. Gathered on Eagles flightdeck are an assortment of contemporary types including Sea Vixens, Scimitars, a Buccaneer and a Fairey Gannet. HMS Albion was built by Swan Hunter and laid down 23 March 1944 being launched 6 May 1947 and on the  26 May 1954.was ready for service. in 1956  HMS Albion took part in the the Suez conflict with her aircraft participating in air assaults. In 1961 she was converted to helicopter carrier able to carrier up to 900 Royal Marines and 16 Westland Wessex helicopters, HMS Albion served in Aden and  Indonesia in 1966. She was eventually sold in October 1973 for a planned conversion to a heavy lift  and repair ship but this conversion was cancelled and she was finally broken up at Faslane, Scotland in November 1973
